Fauré's Requiem and Howard Goodall's Eternal Light Print
Sunday, 17 April 2011, 19:30 - 21:30 by salfordchoralsociety

Salford Choral Society

Organist Jonathan Scott

Conductor Matthew Hamilton Tickets: £17.00, concessions £13.00

Two very different settings of the Requiem. The Fauré Requiem, one of the most poignant settings of the Requiem Mass using the traditional liturgy, is music to comfort and reassure the faithful, with its overwhelming impression of serenity. Goodall, by contrast, uses a variety of texts for his fresh and unorthodox interpretation, Eternal Light, intended as ‘a Requiem for the living’.
