Te Deum - Andrew Carter

The Sprig of Thyme - John Rutter

Andrew Carter's music is performed worldwide.  As a composer and choir director Andrew Carter has worked extensively in the United States and Australia/New Zealand.  Te Deum, written for the American Lutheran Church, makes an exhilaratingly effective choral work for choirs that have the opportunity to combine with a children's choir.  We are very pleased to welcome once again the QES Singers to fulfil this role.

The Sprig of Thyme offers a delightful selection of traditional songs of the British Isles arranged by John Rutter, who has been described as the most successful and well-known composer of choral music in recent British history.  This collection illustrates fully the infectiousness of his melodies and his consummate craftsmanship.

The concert will feature soprano soloist Tracie Penwarden and she will also conduct ‘OttoRegazze', a singing group made up of talented singers from Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale. Both pieces will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra made up from local professional musicians conducted by Ian Allan.

Tickets: Admission at the door or tickets in advance from choir members £10 (accompanied children free,) to include wine and soft drinks.

Location: St Mary’s Church, Kirkby Lonsdale
Sunday 15 May 7.30pm
