Kirkby Lonsdale Choral Society
This concert will be a very special one. We bid an affectionate farewell to two musical powerhouses, our director Jean Charlton and our pianist Anne Rudge who both have in mind the tantalising freedom of retirement. The programme will be by turns nostalgic, stirring and sweet including ‘best bits’ from recent years, and also some fun! This is an occasion for revisiting some of the choir’s favourite pieces: the earliest being Pitoni’s spritely Laudate Dominum and including Mozart’s sublime Ave Verum Corpus, Over My Head representing the choir’s very popular cycle of African songs, the amazing Lamentations of Jeremiah by Z. Randall Stroope, local composer Roger Cann’s charming chain of English folksongs An Evergreen Landscape and …Abba! Also in the programme we look forward to having performances from music students at Queen Elizabeth School. Admission £6 at the door, to include wine etc., accompanied children free.
