In a Monastery Garden Print
Saturday, 20 June 2009, 19:30 - 21:30 by stgeorgessingerspoynton

St George's Singers

An evening of music for a summer's evening from St George's Singers to celebrate the restoration of Gorton Monastery's garden.  In a Monastery Garden will feature choral works by Britten (Five Flower Songs), Lauridsen (Les Chansons les Roses), Grainger (Brigg Fair) and Rutter (Sprig of Thyme) plus madrigals and part-songs.  The Choir will also be giving the premiere of a work specially commissioned from Matthew Hamilton.  St George's Singers will be joined by choirs from Poynton and Cedar Mount High Schools, and piano duets from Musical Director Neil Taylor and Jeffrey Makinson (including the famous In a Monastery Garden) complete a delightful programme.

Ticket price includes summer refreshments of strawberries and wine.  Proceeds from the concert will go to the Gorton Monastery Trust to help with ongoing conservation work.
