Concert by Gerard McChrystal and Craig Ogden Print
Saturday, 08 May 2010, 19:30 - 21:30 by rochdalemusicsociety

Gerard McChrystal, saxophone and Craig Ogden, guitar

The programme will include music influenced by dance rhythms of South America with works by Piazzolla, Celso Machado, Iain Ballamy, and Jaime Zenamon. The composers may not all be familiar but the styles will be. The Celtic inspired Shannon Suite by Ciaran Farrell contrasts with atmospheric pieces from Poland and Australia by Marek Pasieczny and Stuart Grennbaum. Jazz inspired works by Andy Scott and Ulrich Schultheiss complete the programme. The beauty of the music is that it has been performed at The Wigmore Hall , London and the Sugar Club, Dublin. James Galway praised Gerard McChrystal with the words “wonderful saxophone playing” and the BBC Music Magazine wrote of Craig Ogden, “A worthy successor to Julian Bream” This is a unique opportunity to hear two of our finest musicians playing an amazing programme of music with something for everyone’s taste.Do not miss this.
