The Rivoli Quartet was formed at the Manchester University Music Department, where its members studied both individually and as an ensemble with the Lindsay String Quartet. While completing post-graduate diplomas in performance at the RNCM, they were coached further by Dr Christopher Rowland and other eminent chamber musicians of the Endellion, Sorrel and Johnston (now Elias) Quartets.
